Cyber Threats
Cyber Security is a broad term that consists of the protection of Computers, Smartphones, Servers, Networks, data, or other kinds of digital stuff from being accessed by an unauthorized person or group. They can disclose your information, damage your hardware, software, or electronic data. As our today's world is more reliant on the digital environment we are most likely to face Cyber Security threats. Our aim is to make you aware of those threats and try to avoid them as much as possible. By doing so you will be more confident about your privacy and ensure that you are safe and secure.
Types of cyber attacks

Malware:

It is malicious software. It may be in various forms which includes spyware, ransomware, virus and worms. Malware variants may be programmed to do anything from collecting and stealing sensitive information to presenting unwanted ads to causing permanent damage to an infected machine.Malware enters your system, typically when a user clicks a dangerous link or email attachment that then installs
risky software.
-
Spyware: without having any knowledge someone is receiving a data from your hard drive.
-
Ransomware: It blocks an access to data which is encrypted by attacker. Thus they demand ransom to decry-pt it. Victim must have backup of the data to restore it or, he has to accept certain demand of attacker.
-
virus:A computer virus is a type of computer program that, when executed, replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. If this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be "infected" with a computer virus.
-
worms:A computer worm is a type of malware that spreads copies of itself from computer to computer. A worm can replicate itself without any human interaction, and it does not need to attach itself to a software program in order to cause damage. Whereas virus needs host program to replicate itself.
In this type of cyber attack attacker use to send email or text message which seems to be received from authorized source. Purpose of this attack may be to steal user data, including significant information like login credential and credit card number. They may also convince you to click on the malicious link shared in their email which may install a malware which would cause malware attack as mentioned above. This attack can be used to have accessed into corporate or governmental organization system by compromising its employee and bypass security parameters. Doing so they can crash the system. We should be able to recognize such fake email which may contain some sign showing that they are fake.

Phishing:

Man in the middle(MITM):

Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks refer to breaches in cybersecurity that make it possible for an attacker to eavesdrop on the data sent back and forth between two people, networks, or computers. It is called a “man in the middle” attack because the attacker positions themselves in the “middle” or between the two parties trying to communicate. In effect, the attacker is spying on the interaction between the two parties.
In a MITM attack, the two parties involved feel like they are communicating as they normally do. What they do not know is that the person actually sending the message illicitly modifies or accesses the message before it reaches its destination. Some ways to protect yourself and your organization from MITM attacks is by using strong encryption on access points or to use a virtual private network (VPN).
Passwords are important element of security in today’s world. Attackers try to get it using different methods. Passwords are not stored as text in server of any network. They instead stored in encrypted form not understand by human mind. But if someone uses simple passwords like ‘0123456789’ or any other similar known password. Their encryption codes are known to many of attackers and also available along some websites. Attacker can also use your basic information like name, date of birth, anniversary, or they can use your information uploaded on social media to know your password, such type of practice is called brute force attack. A hacker can also use a dictionary attack to ascertain a user’s password. A dictionary attack is a technique that uses common words and phrases, such as those listed in a dictionary, to try and guess the target's password.
